Halsnead Reads

The National Curriculum states that ‘through reading in particular, pupils have a chance to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually.’ (The National Curriculum for England, 2013) This standpoint is at the core of our reading offer at Halsnead Primary. It is our desire for all our children to become enthusiastic, engaged, expert readers, and to develop a life-long love of books. We introduce the children to a range of high-quality fiction, non-fiction, poetry and playscripts through our whole-class, core-text approach to teaching reading.
