Hi, I'm Hannah Whitehall and I am the head of school at Halesnead Primary School. It gives me great pleasure to introduce our happy, ambitious and inclusive school to you. Where we celebrate the successes of our children, the families, the Community and everything that makes our place somewhere children can learn and grow.

00:00:30 Speaker 2

Hello my name is Natalie Hoang, and I'm early years lead at Halsnead primary school. We give our children the best start to their education. We believe that paper supply and high quality interactions are key. Our early years curriculum has been developed to ensure communication and language is at the heart of everything we do.

00:00:49 Speaker 3

Hi, I'm Rachel Redmond and I'm English lead at our school. I'm proud to say reading is centre stage at Halsnead, underpinned by our holes need reads project our love of reading can be found all around school, from nursery to Year 6 along corridors and in classrooms, from book swaps to reading buddy’s, the culture of reading is embedded in our curriculum and permeates all we do.

00:01:13 Speaker 4

I like reading because it's very peaceful and it helps me a lot.

00:01:18 Speaker 5

My teacher encourages us to read because there's like a vending machine. If you read 60 books you will get golden coins and will be able to put it in the vending machine.

00:01:29 Speaker 3

Our school library is at the heart of this and it is a focal point for our children to delve into novels, comics, magazines, all the studies, read aloud sessions and embark on reading challenges.

00:01:42 Speaker 6

I love going to the library. Like the library has tons of books there like I I just every Monday and Friday, I just can't wait to go there and change my book and see what’s new there.

00:02:03 Speaker 7

Hi, I'm Julie Whitby and I'm the learning mentor here at Halsnead primary school. My role is to liaise with and support both children and families throughout our school. I work closely with families offering advice and support, and signposting parents to other agencies when needed.

00:02:18 Speaker 8

If you’re feeling worried, then you can go to Miss Whitby's office. You can like, stay in our room for a while and like she'll talk about the stuff that’s happening and it’ll make you feel better.

00:02:32 Speaker 1

At our school, we are lucky to have a thrive practitioner. She provides social and emotional support to our children whenever they need a listening ear to ensure they feel safe and happy in school. The Thrive hive door is always open. We offer a space to all our children, whatever time of the day before and after school, play times, lunchtimes. Our room is calm and comfortable, uncluttered and quiet. It really is a lovely place to be.

00:03:05 Speaker 9

It makes me feel less stressed. It really makes me happy and I enjoy it there.

00:03:12 Speaker 10

We play games, do challenges, calm down.

00:03:19 Speaker 9

Our school is amazing. I really enjoy it. It's my favourite place to be whenever I want to learn.

00:03:32 Speaker 11

We have an amazing football pitch outside. We have a school team and we're doing well. I think we're first or second in our school league. Last year we had done a trip, you know, a residential and basically so like we were out of school for three days doing activities and all that. It was really, really fun.

00:03:52 Speaker 12

I like the school because it’s like a safe place because if you’re ever upset you can go talk to the teachers or the teachers can come talk to you
